It’s a fine day when the Rev. Jesse Jackson is the surprise guest speaker – after Gov. Jay Inslee – at an event. Dana Riley Black, Director of ISB’s Logan Center for Education, had the opportunity to meet the Rev. Jesse Jackson after his speech during the Washington STEM Summit, which is an annual event to bring education, business and community leaders together for a statewide effort to advance excellence, innovation and equity in STEM education.
Logan Center program manager Kim Klinke participated in a panel discussion on “Effective Teaching and Leading.”
In addition to Klinke’s participation in today’s summit, ISB’s recent involvement with Washington STEM includes:
- Dana Riley Black served as an advisor to the development of the “Washington STEM framework for action and accountability”
- She also is on leadership for the South King County STEM Learning Network
- The North Sound LASER Alliance – which the Logan Center leads – is collaborating with the South King County Learning Network in developing forums for teams of central office administrators in developing NGSS (Next Generation Science Standards) transition plans with the seven southern districts in King County
